Out-of-School Career Specialist (WIOA) Job Description - Lakes Region Position Overview: The Out-of-School Career Specialist is responsible for directly influencing the success of a group of youth (ages 16 – 24). This includes implementing and managing the JAG Model and providing mentoring & community connections necessary for young adults to overcome barriers. Essential Functions: ● Build a roster of participants for the program ▪ Market the program throughout the community ▪ Conduct interviews to identify and document program eligibility ▪ Process required paperwork to enroll youth ● Develop work-based learning experiences, internships, and apprenticeships ▪ Maintain a positive image within the NH Works community & effectively develop a cooperative working relationship ▪ Engage youth and employers in a future career-readiness capacity ▪ Provide career guidance and assistance with entering post-secondary education and/or training ▪ Conduct marketing campaign among the private & public sector ● Create individual training plans for youth on job skills and needs ▪ Organize enrollment into an approved WIOA occupational skills training in all workforce sectors ▪ Utilize additional JAG frameworks in interactions, such as Trauma Informed Care ▪ Schedule & administer required assessments ● Create support within the community by developing relationships with local social service and support organizations ▪ Understand and track social service resources and opportunities ▪ Organize and monitor participant involvement in leadership & community service projects ● Enter, track, and report on specific data measures ▪ Maintain accurate participant information ▪ Analyze data to identify any participant in need of tutoring, mentoring, or other support ▪ Record attendance & progress in all training program areas ▪ Complete timely & accurate record keeping in the NH Job Match System ● Perform additional tasks as assigned Position Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Counseling, or related field (Associate’s plus experience in lieu of degree acceptable) ● Minimum 2 years experience working with youth, teaching or counseling ● Must have strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills ● Ability to understand & work effectively & efficiently with youth, educators, industry partners & employers ● Job development experience preferred
